Traveling to Austria
When visiting Austria, you will need to have a valid passport. If you are a citizen of the United States, Canada, South Africa, the United Kingdom, or New Zealand you will not require a visa for stays up to 90 days. Irish citizens do not need a visa and can stay in Austria as long as they like with only a passport.
Austria is a very easy country to fly into, with international airports located in Vienna, Salzburg, Graz and more cities. For convenience, we often recommend visitors to fly into Vienna and explore from there unless they have business or plans that make flying into one of the other airports to be preferable.
After you land at the airport, we can have your Vienna Airport car rental ready for you to finish the registration process and drive off. When you are done using the car, we make Vienna Airport car return as easy as picking up. We also offer car pick up and drop off from any other location you find convenient within the city limits of Vienna. Hotels, other airports, or wherever you prefer. Car delivery and return to locations outside of Vienna are only available by special request at time of booking and are subject to additional fees.

What do I need to rent a car in Austria?
Renting a car in Austria is simple, but there are a few requirements that must be met.
- You must be 21 years old with at least 1 year of driving experience.
- You must have a valid driver's license in your home country for at least 12 months
- A passport
- An international Drivers License (IDP). These can be acquired from AAA or other agencies for as little as $20.
- Drivers under 20 are considered “Young drivers” and will be required to purchase additional insurance.
If all of these conditions are met, then you can book your car and know that you will not have any trouble when it comes time to receive your vehicle. Upon receipt of the car, you will have to pay the rental fee by cash or credit card, as well as make an insurance deposit.
How about toll roads in Austria? Does the car has a toll sticker “Vignette” for Austria?
Yes, the Vignette for Austrian highways is included in the price. The Austrian vignette is valid on all Austrian highways, with the exception of road sections with separate payment which are: A9 Pyhrn motorway Gleinalm and Bosrucktunnel, A 10 Tauern motorway Tauern and Katschberg Tunnel, A11 Karawanken motorway, A13 Brenner motorway, S16 Arlberg expressway.
